Horrible manager with iterative work every-day

After working fiercely for the past 10 days (about 1 and a half weeks) with my manager and with one of the most irritating onsite teams, I wanted to take a short break from work for a few days. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic situation across the globe and severe lockdown restrictions, I had no other choice but to connect back to work the next day post weekend work. Therefore, I was hoping that no new work was assigned by my manager and after a prolonged time, I can spend some quality time with my family. Even though I did not get any new work from the onsite team, my manager was bothering me once in a few minutes to check on my status and to gather a few insights from other account owners. Out of frustration, I used to log off from my office laptop and continue to work on my laptop, as my manager would ping me often for the status update. After completion of work, I used to send the updates to my manager at once and after a few minutes, my manager will call me again to further enhance the information with recent updates. Unnecessary work from Onsite team

So, for past one week I was completely putting in my hard work to complete all the task list shared by those irritating onsite teams and my stupid manager. Out of curiosity, I wanted to check about the submission date for the assigned work and was pushing my manager each day to validate it with the onsite team. Finally, before the weekend during the call, my manager requested onsite team to share expected submission date and further actions on the opportunity shared. I was shell shocked by the response from the onsite team, as they responded back stating that they have shared initial questionnaire to the client point of contact and was awaiting their response. In mean time, the onsite team felt that client might need few information and was requesting offshore team to work on unnecessary documents, before even client shared their requirements. I was getting even more furious and was requesting my manager to drop note stating that myself would be supporting this request post clarifications from client. However, my manager backstabbed with irrelevant mails and information and to know more, please feel free to check out the blog posts in “G R Team Sites”

Exciting travel to surprise my family

The excitement of going home for a long vacation was overshadowing the fact that my manager has approved work from home for continuous two days before my long vacation and I didn’t have any work to be completed for the rest of the week. I kept my travel back to native as a surprise to my family and was pretending that I was on my usual routine in my workplace. However, even being rude with my mom and wife that I was busy with my work, my family was checking about my safety precautions to the Covid-19 pandemic and they were worried about my well-being to the extent that they want me to back to my native as early as possible. Since I had conveyed that I would be busy with my work due to the upcoming long vacation, my family had no other option but to anxiously wait till my arrival, and they were also unaware of the work from trend happening across the technology industry. So, I was traveling to my hometown in my car and was pretending to be in my workplace and my family was unaware of my surprise, and finally, when I reached home my family was shell shocked and couldn’t believe that I have reached home sooner than they expected. FastTrack work with delivery lead to complete ASAP

I have started work on the service request as soon as I logged into office, as usual, I have a habit of checking Twitter and YouTube for the latest news and trends happening in the market. After my browsing new topics, I wanted to close this service request as early as possible, because of my planned vacation coming up in the next few days and my instinct indicating that I will have to support this service request during my vacation. The delivery lead who was supposed to be providing guidance and support to close this service request was also working hard with me to close this work as early as possible. The main reason for this delivery person to work hard with me was to close this request before my vacation days, as he wants to take vacation the week after it and we both were irritated by the on-site team’s attitude and iterative changes. With extended hours, the delivery lead and I were able to complete the entire service request in almost two days and have sent the revised deck to the on-site team for their review. Plan ruined with new service request

For the past week, I did not have much work to do in my previous service request and all I had to do was kill time with the same deck with minor updates every day. I thought it would continue for one more week as the scheduled time for closure of the service request was by next week, but the exact opposite thing happened through my manager. He looped me into one more new service request with a lot of work to be completed in the next few days and for the same request, I was supposed to assist existing teammates with my expertise from previous such requests. Only while being looped into calls, I understood that there was a lot of work to be completed and I had to utilize my entire bandwidth for the next few days. All my hope of spending leisure time with the previous service request with no work plan went in vain and for the next few days, I must spend a lot of time on the newly assigned service request. To start, I had to go through a lot of existing repositories and previously completed service requests to understand how client requirements addressed. Furthermore, I also had to read the complete documents list shared by the client in a few hours to start working on the service request and put in my expertise to complete it. Started working on the service request

I was roped in to support the service request at the very last minute by my manager and he doesn’t have any clue about the amount of work nor its bandwidth. I had to figure out my bandwidth and make some room to support this service request based on priority basis. Since, the service request was assigned on Friday and has 2 more weeks left to complete the assigned work. So, I had put aside this last minute service request for the day and started to create baseline slides for the other tasks assigned to me. Towards close of the day, I got a call from the delivery person, who was supposed to support and work alongside me to close out this service request, he was requesting me whether I can send out version before EOD for review. I was astonished by this remark, as it was about to be close of the day and we have time till next week to frame outline for the request. I conveyed politely that, it is too early to come up with a version and it would be redundant work for me to work on too many iterations. He was hesitant to acknowledge the fact and I declined to send a version by tonight. Outcome of this conversation got me into hell and to know more, continue reading posts at “G R Team Sites”
